Townsend Board of Health approves one septic upgrade, continues another, and patches a fire-notification gap. The board unanimously approved a septic system upgrade with local variances for 1 Balsam Drive in Timberlake Park but continued a more complex six-variance application for 41 Brookline Street, which includes encroachments on a wetland buffer and a town-regulated floodplain setback, to its March 23 meeting so the engineer and applicant can appear in person. Chair Dr.
Christian Roman-Ramirez reported that a pre-meeting with the fire chief, building department, and interim town administrator produced a new 24/7 call-down list after a weekend restaurant fire went unreported to the board until the following Tuesday. Nashoba Associated Boards of Health presenter Janet Montgomery told the board that a roughly 30 percent assessment increase was needed to offset the loss of member-town Littleton and the expiration of a federal contact-tracing grant, putting per-capita member costs at approximately $769 against a district-wide spend of about $1,341.
