Commission OKs Seaver Road Conditions, Delays Agent Hire
Conservation Commission · Meeting of September 23, 2026
Townsend Conservation Commission closes Seaver Road subdivision hearing, adds erosion safeguards. The board voted 7-0 Wednesday to issue a standard order of conditions for Belvedere Capital LLC's three-lot Seaver Road cul-de-sac, after project engineer Wayne detailed a stormwater basin using rip-rap and "level spreaders" to slow runoff within a buffer zone covering 150,000 square feet. Commissioner Brian Pinkerton questioned the board's stormwater jurisdiction, asking "why are we wasting our time discussing something that we don't even have" a say over; Chair James Gates said the concern was "noted." The commission also voted 7-0 to issue a certificate of compliance for 6 Adams Road after Vice Chair Michael Potsaid inspected the site himself.
A second attempt to set hiring criteria for a conservation agent, budgeted around $25 an hour part time, was tabled to October 14 amid a town hiring freeze. MassDEP separately appealed the board's own amended order for 80 Main Street.
