Planning Board · Meeting of August 24, 2026
Townsend's Planning Board voted 4-1 to extend its deadline on the long-pending Seaver Road subdivision to October 5. Chair Andrew Shepherd's board worked through 20 revised zoning waivers after town counsel ruled 2022-era waivers had lapsed, drawing objections from abutter Richard Cohen over utility and driveway easement concerns and from commenter Siegman, who argued the plan violates bylaws barring "reservation strips" while also blocking a neighboring lot's access: "But this is the rule." Member Robert Therrien unsuccessfully moved to close the hearing outright, 4-1 against. The board also closed, 5-0, a renewal hearing for the SBA Towers 5, LLC cell tower at 12 Dudley Road to allow Verizon co-location, and flagged an October 1 state deadline for consolidated clean-energy permitting the town has not yet addressed.
