TOWNSEND — The Townsend Conservation Commission voted 4-0, with Chair James Gates recused, to approve an amended order of conditions for a Townsend Historical Society septic relocation on Main Street. Members James Deroian, Abigail Farley, Brian Pinkerton and Vice Chair Michael Potsaid backed the amendment, which moves the septic system and leach field away from the Squannacook River and entirely out of the flood zone. Interim Conservation Agent Sabrina Moore told the board the vote covered only whether the project needed a new Notice of Intent, calling the remaining project details the "meat and potatoes" to be taken up August 12.
A resident also raised interest in the commission's one open seat, saying they had started but not yet submitted a volunteer application. The board adjourned at 5:17 p.m. on a roll-call vote.
