Townsend Sets July 10 Trash Renewal Deadline as Summer Schedule Takes Effect
With summer in full swing, Townsend residents have several town-calendar items bearing down in the coming weeks — from a community electric aggregation sweep to a curbside trash registration deadline — while the Public Library reminds patrons of an upcoming holiday closure.
TOWN HALL
The town's community electric aggregation program has a sweep scheduled for July 13, 2026. Residents who wish to opt out before being swept into the aggregation rate should take action ahead of that date; details are available through the town's website.
Town Hall itself is operating on a reduced summer schedule. The offices are closed on Fridays through the end of August, so residents should plan weekday visits accordingly.
The deadline to register or renew for the 2026–2027 curbside trash and recycling program is July 10. Residents who miss the deadline risk losing curbside service for the coming program year; registration is open now and can be completed online through the town's payments portal.
The town also announced in early June that the Townsend Band Concerts have begun, with the series having kicked off June 11. Outdoor band concerts are a warm-weather staple for the community, and the series runs through the summer months.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Townsend Public Library will be closed Friday, July 4, Saturday, July 5, and Sunday, July 6 for Independence Day. The library encourages patrons to plan holds and checkouts ahead of the three-day closure. No new program announcements were posted to the library's website in this cycle, though the library's summer reading program and ongoing events calendar remain active for the season.
