Townsend Reminds Residents of August 3 Tax Deadline
TOWNSEND — Townsend property owners have until August 3 to make their next real estate tax payment, according to a reminder posted on the town's website, while residents also have three fall elections to plan for this year.
TOWN HALL
The town's News Flash feed reminds residents that the next real estate tax due date is August 3, 2026. The reminder comes as the town also continues preparations for a busy fall election season, with three elections scheduled in Townsend this year: September 1, October 6, and November 3. Nomination papers for the town's special election are now available at Town Hall, the town announced earlier this month.
Residents planning to visit Town Hall on Fridays should note the building remains closed on Fridays through the end of August, a schedule change the town announced in June. The town also completed its Aggregation Sweep program and water main flushing work over the summer, and residents who renewed for the 2026-2027 curbside trash and recycling program needed to do so by the July 10 deadline.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Townsend Public Library continues to promote its Summer Reading program and ongoing offerings, including the Townsend Hill Writers Symposium, museum passes, and its Seed Library and genealogy resources. The library's Meeting Hall Art Gallery remains part of its rotating community offerings, and residents can subscribe to the library's newsletter for updates on book clubs and children's storytimes.
The town's summer Band Concerts series, which began June 11, continues to offer residents free outdoor musical programming, part of a slate of warm-weather community events organized alongside the library's summer activities.
COMING UP
Townsend's real estate tax payment is due August 3. The town's Friday Town Hall closures continue through the end of August. Looking further ahead, nomination papers for the town's special election are available now ahead of the September 1, October 6, and November 3 elections this fall.
